Residents were seen sifting through the debris for their possessions following an Israeli airstrike in the Bureij refugee camp, located in the central Gaza Strip, on October 30, 2026. This incident occurred as Israel continued its attacks on the Gaza enclave, despite a ceasefire that has been in effect for over a year.
On Saturday, Israel conducted multiple strikes within Gaza. The al-Awda Hospital confirmed the death of Palestinian teacher Diaa Abu al-Rous during the shelling of the Nuseirat refugee camp. In a separate incident, Arafat al-Arair succumbed to serious injuries sustained days prior when Israel targeted a vehicle in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood, southwest of Gaza City. A medical source at al-Shifa Hospital verified his passing.
Additionally, two young girls died on Saturday from injuries they sustained the previous evening when their tent caught fire at a camp for displaced individuals in al-Mawasi, Khan Younis. The Nasser Medical Complex confirmed their deaths, though the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
According to Gaza's Ministry of Health, at least six Palestinians have been killed in Gaza over the last 48 hours, bringing the total fatalities since the October 2025 ceasefire to 1,580. The ministry's Saturday report also indicated that 26 other individuals were injured during the same period.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) issued a warning on Friday, stating that Israeli forces in Gaza are continuing to displace Palestinians and that their actions are raising concerns of ethnic cleansing. The OHCHR's statement highlighted that Palestinians are increasingly being confined to a diminishing area of the territory, which has been severely impacted by three years of Israeli siege. The office further noted that Israeli forces are destroying the remaining civilian infrastructure in Gaza.
The Israeli military is reportedly working to extend its territorial control over Gaza to 70 percent, a move stemming from an order issued by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in May. Reporting from Deir el-Balah, Al Jazeera's Tareq Abu Azzoum stated that Israel is targeting civilians in an effort to displace Palestinians from the city. Abu Azzoum cited testimonies from individuals who had evacuated their homes in eastern Deir el-Balah city, confirming that the Israeli military adjusted the yellow demarcation line by firing on civilians to force them out of these areas.
Since the implementation of the nominal ceasefire a year ago, Israeli attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least 1,580 Palestinians and injured 5,711 others, according to Gaza's Health Ministry. Negotiations aimed at achieving a permanent end to the conflict under United States President Donald Trump's peace plan have reportedly stalled. Reconstruction efforts have not yet commenced due to ongoing disputes between Hamas and Israel regarding the implementation of Trump's plan. Hamas has stated it will not disarm fully until Israel completely withdraws from Gaza, while Israel maintains it will not leave the territory until Hamas relinquishes its weapons.
