Barcelona Reclaims La Liga Lead with Dominant 6-1 Victory Over Alaves, Fueled by Raphinha and Lamine Yamal

Barcelona has surged back to the top of La Liga after a resounding 6-1 thrashing of Alaves at Camp Nou. The Catalan giants, seeking to rebound from recent defeats, found their form with a stellar performance from Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, who each scored twice. Fermin Lopez also contributed to the goal tally in the first half, with Lamine Yamal adding his second later in the game. Substitute Anthony Gordon extended Barcelona's lead to six before Mariano Diaz scored a late consolation for Alaves.

This emphatic win moves Barcelona two points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid, who had temporarily taken the lead earlier in the day with a 2-0 victory over Levante. The team, under Hansi Flick, showed resilience after a challenging week that included a Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain and a La Liga defeat to rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico.

Fermin Lopez expressed relief and gratitude for the home support, stating, "It was a hard week for us. There was no better place than Camp Nou in front of our fans [to bounce back]. They make the difference, Lamine and Raphinha. With them, we will achieve big things."

The match also observed a minute of silence at the start, honoring the 69 victims of a recent train crash in the province of Toledo.

Looking ahead, Barcelona will host Aston Villa in the Champions League on Tuesday before a crucial La Liga clash against Atletico Madrid next Sunday.

Alaves, despite the heavy defeat, remain in 10th place but have now extended their winless streak to seven matches. Midfielder Ander Guevara acknowledged the team's poor run but urged calm, saying, "We have to turn the page quickly. We don’t need to sound the alarms. We know we’re on a bad run, but we’re a mature and humble team."

In other La Liga action, Atletico Madrid secured their seventh consecutive league win with goals from Alejandro Grimaldo and Giuliano Simeone against Levante in Valencia. Coach Diego Simeone celebrated his 344th La Liga win, matching the club record held by Luis Aragones, and emphasized a game-by-game approach.
