Dubai is enhancing its appeal to international travelers by streamlining the visa application process and introducing incentives to foster repeat visits. This initiative aims to solidify the emirate's status as a premier global hub for tourism and business. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, unveiled a new strategy that includes a tourism loyalty program designed to reward frequent visitors. Additionally, visa services are being integrated into 'Visit Dubai,' the official tourism platform for the city.
Travelers can now apply for single-entry, multiple-entry tourist visas, and long-term multiple-entry visas directly through Visit Dubai. The platform is expected to offer additional visa categories in the future. A key benefit is the ability to access all visa services through a single, unified channel, eliminating the need to navigate multiple websites or applications. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) reportedly processes Dubai tourist visa applications within 48 hours.
The Visit Dubai platform serves as a comprehensive resource, providing information and tools to assist visitors at every stage of their journey, from discovering attractions and planning itineraries to booking tickets and exploring events. It's important to note that not all visit visas are strictly tourist visas; Dubai offers entry permits tailored to various travel needs, including short-term holidays, family visits, extended stays, business trips, and transit stopovers.
Types of Tourist Visas Available:
Visa Application Requirements:
Essential documents for application include a passport valid for at least six months, a recent passport-size photo with a white background, a confirmed return or onward flight ticket, and valid UAE medical insurance. Upon arrival, visitors might be asked for hotel bookings or accommodation details, and potentially additional identification documents based on their nationality.
Fees for a 30-day visa are Dh200 ($54.46), and Dh300 for a 60-day visa, excluding VAT and service charges. For multiple-entry visas, the fee is Dh300 for a 30-day visa and Dh500 for a 60-day visa, also excluding VAT and service charges. Sponsorship by a UAE-based company or licensed travel agency is typically required for these visas.
Other Visit Visa Categories:
Visa on Arrival and Visa-Free Entry:
Not all international visitors need to pre-apply for a UAE tourist visa. Gulf citizens enjoy visa-free entry. Over 80 nationalities are eligible for a visa on arrival, while nationals from countries including the EU, UK, US, China, Australia, and Japan qualify for visa-free entry, with stay durations typically ranging from 30 to 90 days depending on nationality.
Transit visas are also available for travelers passing through the UAE, offering 48 or 96-hour stays. Recently, the UAE extended visa-on-arrival options to citizens of six additional countries living abroad (Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya, and South Africa), provided they hold valid residence permits from specific developed nations.
