LuLu Hypermarket and Philippine Embassy Champion Smart Recycling During Qatar Sustainability Week 2026

In a significant move to promote environmental responsibility, LuLu Hypermarket, in partnership with the Embassy of the Philippines in Qatar, launched the "Recyclers United – Closing the Loop Through Smart Recycling" initiative yesterday. The event, held at the LuLu Hypermarket D-Ring Road Branch as part of Qatar Sustainability Week 2026, aimed to engage the Filipino community and sustainability partners in advocating for responsible recycling and raising environmental awareness.

The inauguration was led by H.E. Mardomel Celo D. Melicor, Ambassador of the Philippines to Qatar. Also present were Mr. Shanavas, Regional Director of LuLu Hypermarket Qatar, representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Earthna Foundation, LuLu management, and members of the Filipino community.

During his visit, Ambassador Melicor explored the Philippine Embassy’s exhibition booth, which highlighted the Embassy's ongoing sustainability and environmental awareness efforts. He also toured LuLu's dedicated eco-friendly aisles, showcasing sustainable products and responsible shopping choices. The Ambassador observed the reverse vending machines for plastic bottle and aluminium can collection, as well as the e-waste recycling drop-off facilities.

The initiative underscored LuLu Hypermarket's commitment to fostering sustainable practices and enhancing recycling accessibility for its customers. The event saw active participation from Filipino community teams, who contributed significantly to the recycling drive by collecting a substantial number of plastic bottles.
