In a significant event celebrating the UAE's growing industrial capabilities, ROX hosted a dynamic ceremony at its Advanced AI Manufacturing Centre in KEZAD. This milestone follows the company's first Emirates-built vehicle rollout less than 60 days prior. During the ceremony, ROX officially delivered the initial 10 ADAMAS vehicles from the limited 100-unit UAE Signature Edition to customers. The high-profile event took place on the factory floor, attended by local media, industry leaders, and key partners. This achievement builds on the momentum from the company's first Emirates-built car in early September, demonstrating ROX's swift execution of its manufacturing plans in Abu Dhabi.
The rapid transition from establishing manufacturing operations to fulfilling customer deliveries in under two months has garnered industry attention. When asked about ROX's capabilities, founder and CEO Jarvis highlighted the critical factors behind this success. "I think it'll be because of trust," he stated after the ceremony. He also shared the challenges ROX encountered earlier in the year, noting, "We had a problem with logistics, but I'd made a promise to the government, partners, and our customers, so I needed to deliver the factory on time." The team's dedication was further tested by Abu Dhabi's extreme summer heat, as they worked to keep the manufacturing centre on schedule and meet ROX's commitments.
While initial assembly incorporates hundreds of locally sourced parts, ROX aims to develop a comprehensive local industrial ecosystem beyond vehicle manufacturing. A strategic partnership with Borouge, a leading industrial entity in the nation, is central to this vision. Jarvis mentioned, "We have a joint lab, and we do the research together to do advanced materials research. Now in the ROX ADAMAS, we have already used 17 parts from Borouge." By integrating local suppliers and fostering strong collaborations, ROX is evolving from a vehicle manufacturer into an open platform that partners closely with Emirati businesses, viewing them as integral to its growth.
The launch of the UAE Signature Edition vehicles carries substantial symbolic weight. For Jarvis and his design team, capturing the essence of the Emirates involved deep cultural immersion. "You need to learn the design from the local people and local culture," Jarvis explained. The ROX team dedicated significant time to studying regional heritage, visiting historical sites, and consulting with Emirati designers to ensure the vehicle reflects the country's aesthetic values. The exclusive special edition cars feature design elements inspired by the UAE's national colours and identity, integrated into both the exterior and interior details. Jarvis recalled observing vehicles in the UAE displaying the national flag and other symbols of local pride, stating, "I thought, okay, very good, we should follow this strategy. We want to show what it means to be 'Made in the UAE and Proud of the UAE'."
Jarvis expressed his strong connection to Abu Dhabi, describing it as his second home and explaining why it was chosen as the base for ROX's global operations. He also commended UAE consumers for their appreciation of luxury, design, and quality, deeming Abu Dhabi a fitting home for the brand. Looking ahead, ROX's ambitions align with the UAE's national strategies, including Operation 300bn, which aims to boost industrial growth and GDP contribution by 2030. Jarvis anticipates ROX will play a significant role in this vision, projecting, "By my calculation, I think by 2030 ROX can contribute maybe 10 per cent of this target." With a long-term goal to produce 300,000 vehicles annually in the UAE by 2030 and aspirations to become a leading global outdoor lifestyle brand, ROX's recent customer handover at its KEZAD manufacturing centre signifies a crucial step towards an ambitious future.
