As the emirate embraces the month-long Dubai Fitness Challenge, transforming into a vast outdoor gymnasium, registration for the highly anticipated Dubai Run is now open. This flagship event, now in its eighth year, will once again see the 14-lane Sheikh Zayed Road transformed for an early morning spectacle. Open to participants of all ages and fitness levels, the free Dubai Run attracted a record 307,000 participants last year, an initiative championed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence. Launched in 2017, the Dubai Fitness Challenge, also known as the 30x30 challenge, aims to inspire residents towards a healthier lifestyle by encouraging at least 30 minutes of exercise daily for 30 consecutive days. In support of this goal, numerous venues are offering complimentary or subsidized classes and sports sessions, complemented by a vibrant schedule of community-driven fitness activities.

Dubai Run is scheduled for Sunday, November 22, with Sheikh Zayed Road to be closed to vehicular traffic for several hours in the morning. The first wave of runners will commence at 6:30 am, though participants are advised to arrive early to secure their preferred starting positions. The start line will close at 8:00 am, with the run concluding at 9:00 am, after which the road will be reopened. While children of all ages are welcome, those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, with registration for minors requiring a parent or legal guardian. Although Dubai Run is a free event, online registration is mandatory, offering participants a choice between two distinct routes and various time slots. All participants are required to wear bibs, which must be collected from the Dubai Municipality 30x30 Fitness Village located at Zabeel Park.

Two routes are available, both traversing Sheikh Zayed Road. The 5km route commences near the Museum of the Future, passing by the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera before concluding near Dubai Mall. This route is relatively flat, making it suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The 10km route also begins near the Museum of the Future, crossing the Dubai Canal Bridge and looping along Sheikh Zayed Road to finish near the DIFC Gate, offering a more challenging experience for seasoned participants. Individuals of determination can also register, with a dedicated support team ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. Further details will be provided upon registration.

Upon completing online registration, participants must present their QR codes to collect their bibs and complimentary T-shirts at the Dubai Municipality 30x30 Fitness Village in Zabeel Park. Bib collection will be available from November 9 to November 21. Operating hours are Monday to Thursday from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Friday from 12:00 pm to 11:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm. Organizers suggest bringing water and a sun hat, especially when collecting kits during peak times. Bibs are essential for participation and safety.

While parking is available near the starting line, organizers strongly recommend using the Dubai Metro due to road closures. Participants registered for the 5km route should disembark at the World Trade Centre metro station, while those in the 10km category can use the Emirates Towers station. A NOL card with at least Dh15 credit is required for metro travel. For those opting to drive, parking is available in the Dubai World Trade Centre car parks for the 10km route, and at Dubai Mall for the 5km route. Detailed route maps and parking information will be shared with registered participants closer to the event.

Dubai Run is a non-competitive event, allowing participants to run, jog, or walk at their own pace, ensuring ample space for others. Pausing for photos or hydration is permitted, provided it does not impede other participants. There is no bag-drop service; participants should carry their valuables on their person. Water stations are strategically placed along both routes. For safety reasons, pets are not permitted at the event.
