Qatar has officially refuted media reports claiming that Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, stated that the United States and Iran had failed to reach an agreement. The Qatari government has labeled these reports as “false and misleading,” emphasizing that mediation efforts are actively continuing.

In a statement released by the International Media Office of Qatar, it was asserted that the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs’ remarks were “deliberately distorted by those who benefit from continued war and instability in our region.” The statement further indicated that many of these fabricated claims were being disseminated by fake accounts with the intent to undermine diplomatic progress and incite escalation, a practice described as “deeply irresponsible.”

The office confirmed that Sheikh Mohammed had stated on Friday that both the U.S. and Iran are continuing to work towards a deal. Qatari mediators are reportedly in close coordination with both nations to facilitate the ongoing negotiations.

Earlier reports from Iraqi news agency Shafaq News had suggested that the Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs had indicated Washington and Tehran had not reached a comprehensive agreement, and had urged both parties to accept a viable deal over pursuing an unattainable “perfect” one.

Qatar has been engaged in mediating between the U.S. and Iran since the commencement of hostilities following an attack by the U.S. and Israel on Iran on February 28. A ceasefire was established in April.

Recent diplomatic activities include Qatari mediators traveling to Tehran to discuss a draft agreement, and an Iranian delegation holding talks in Doha over the past weekend. U.S. President Donald Trump also commented on Friday, stating that his administration is in communication with Tehran’s representatives, following a phone call with Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as reported by Al Jazeera. Trump was quoted as saying, “We are doing very well with Iran.”
