Diwali, widely recognized as the festival of lights, stands as one of Hinduism's most significant celebrations, observed by millions worldwide, particularly in India and Nepal. The festival symbolizes the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. It typically occurs in early autumn, coinciding with the new moon, the darkest night of the Hindu lunar calendar, hence its date varies annually.
Traditionally, families adorn their homes with intricate rangoli designs and flowers, and illuminate their spaces with candles and oil lamps known as diyas. Friends and relatives gather, dressed in their finest attire, for prayers, the exchange of gifts, and to share festive meals.
In the UAE, Diwali celebrations are observed in homes, temples, and public areas, underscoring the nation's multicultural fabric and its tradition of embracing diverse cultural and religious festivities.
