A recent explosion inside a house in the village of Ain al-Qasab, near the city of Jisr al-Shughur in the western Idlib countryside, has left three civilians dead and six others injured.
According to the Syrian Civil Defense, the victims included a man, his wife, and his brother. Sources speaking to Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath channels reported that the blast occurred after midnight on Friday and was initially attributed to war remnants.
Ali al-Lari, the director of the Civil Defense center in Jisr al-Shughur, told the Syrian News Channel that rescue operations were ongoing at the scene. He noted that preliminary findings suggest fishing explosives stored inside the house caused the blast.
Mostafa Baghour, the medical director of Jisr al-Shughour Surgical Hospital, confirmed that the facility treated the victims. The casualties included a 35-year-old man who lost his life, alongside six wounded individuals, including a 45-year-old woman, a young man with shrapnel injuries, and three children. Baghour explained that two of the injured children were sent to the neurosurgery department at the Idlib Surgical Clinics Hospital, while the third child received care in the orthopedics department. Additionally, a man in his fifties was admitted for treatment of chest contusions.
This incident follows previous military escalations in the region, including airstrikes documented by the activist-operated Thiqa News Agency that targeted the town of Ihsem in Idlib province.
