Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar announced on Wednesday that three Pakistani nationals were killed and another sustained injuries following an assault on a commercial vessel in the Red Sea, based on press statements conveyed by Reuters.
During his statement, the Pakistani Foreign Minister strongly condemned the Huthi attack directed at a non-combatant merchant ship. He stressed that such acts jeopardize innocent lives, breach international law, and present a grave danger to freedom of navigation, maritime security, and commercial shipping operations within the Red Sea.
“We are in contact with the relevant Saudi authorities, as well as the internationally recognized Yemeni government, to ascertain further details about the incident and the surrounding circumstances,” Dar stated.
He further noted: “I have instructed our embassy in Riyadh to coordinate immediately with the relevant authorities and pursue all necessary measures vigorously to recover and repatriate the bodies of the deceased Pakistani nationals, while providing all possible assistance to the injured Pakistani citizen. We are monitoring the situation closely and will remain in tight coordination with the concerned authorities.”
