Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian attended a press conference in Tehran, Iran, on August 8, addressing the nation as it faces severe challenges.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the country is currently engaged in a "full-scale war" and openly acknowledged deepening economic struggles as the US readies new sanctions against Tehran.

"We are apologetic that these problems exist, as we find ourselves in a full-scale economic, military, and security war," Iranian state media IRNA reported Pezeshkian as stating on Sunday.

"As the government, we are seeking with all our being to steer inflation, public problems, people’s livelihoods, people’s jobs, people’s future, and people’s lives towards dignity and pride," he added.

Iran, already burdened by prolonged sanctions and the strains of conflict, faces mounting pressure as US President Donald Trump threatens further economic strangulation. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent previously promised unprecedented economic measures directed against Tehran.
