Khalifa University of Science and Technology has achieved a major milestone by entering the top 200 universities worldwide across four UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while also marking a significant leap in its overall standing in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026. The Abu Dhabi institution advanced to the 301-400 global band, improving from the 401-600 range in 2005, which highlights the growing global acknowledgment of its research, innovation, and strategic partnerships.

The university secured its strongest performances in four specific SDGs, placing within the top 200 for Decent Work and Economic Growth; Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; Responsible Consumption and Production; and Partnerships for the Goals. The Times ratings evaluate global universities based on their contributions through research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching.

Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri, President of Khalifa University, noted that these achievements reflect the institution's dedication to providing education that yields practical benefits for society. He emphasized the university's ongoing commitment to fostering future talent, enhancing international collaboration, and supporting a knowledge-based economy.

In addition to these top-tier rankings, Khalifa University placed in the 201-300 global band for both Clean Water and Sanitation and Reduced Inequalities. The institution also achieved remarkable progress in health and education, jumping from the 1,001+ band to the 401-600 range for Good Health and Well-being, and advancing from 1001+ to the 601-800 bracket for Quality Education. These successes stem from the rollout of Khalifa University’s 2025-2030 Sustainability Strategy.

Building on its academic momentum, the university ranked in the top 150 of the QS World University Rankings 2027, rising 30 spots to 147th globally and maintaining its position as the leading institute in the UAE for the ninth consecutive year. Strong performance in research impact and a diverse international faculty were key drivers behind this continued academic excellence.
