Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has emphasized complete coordination between the government and the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) as they prepare for the National Economic Transformation Program. Speaking at a meeting on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the government headquarters in New Alamein City with CBE Governor Hassan Abdalla, Madbouly noted that this cooperation follows directives from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to integrate fiscal, monetary, and sectoral policies for a stronger national economy.
The officials evaluated the current performance of the Egyptian economy, focusing on collaborative strategies to lower inflation, boost dollar inflows, and increase foreign currency reserves. The discussion confirmed that Egypt maintains secure levels of foreign currency reserves to cover essential strategic commodities through ongoing joint efforts by the government and the Central Bank.
During the briefing, Governor Hassan Abdalla announced that the CBE Board of Directors approved new regulations for the Digital Financial Identity System, allowing banks to electronically verify customer identities.
