A devastating fire broke out at a state-run hospital in Pakistan's capital city Islamabad, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 infants, according to local broadcaster Geo TV. The fatal blaze at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital was reportedly triggered by a fault in air conditioning systems.
Geo TV stated that the incident began approximately two hours ago, while cooling operations remain ongoing at the scene. Out of the 16 newborns present in the hospital's gynaecology ward when the fire erupted, emergency responders managed to rescue only one infant.
