Qatar Strongly Condemns Iranian Attacks on Jordan and UAE, Urges Urgent De-Escalation

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned renewed Iranian attacks targeting Jordan with missiles and the United Arab Emirates with a drone, declaring that the actions violate international law and the UN Charter.

Released on Monday, the official statement emphasized that the aggressions infringe upon the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both nations. The Ministry warned that the continuation of these attacks represents a dangerous escalation, complicating regional tension containment and undermining diplomatic efforts for stability.

The regional flare-up follows an exchange of strikes between the U.S. and Iran, triggered after American forces attacked Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) described the operation as limited and precise action against IRGC minelaying forces representing an imminent threat. This marks the first known U.S. strike on Iran since late July.

In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) vowed retaliation, stating that the armed forces would punish the aggressor. Iran subsequently claimed responsibility for striking U.S. military bases in Jordan, prompting Jordan’s army to confirm the interception of eight missiles on Monday morning. Meanwhile, Iranian state TV reported that an air base in the UAE was targeted with drones, though the UAE’s Ministry of Defence dismissed the claims regarding Al-Minhad Air Base as unfounded while confirming the downing of a drone.

Concluding the statement, Qatar expressed full solidarity with Jordan and the UAE, backed measures to secure their sovereignty, and called for an immediate halt to all military actions.
