Residents attempt to extinguish a fire following an Israeli air strike on a vehicle in Gaza City, August 31, 2026. At least four people have been killed and several wounded in Israeli attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip, health officials reported.
At least three people, including two children, were killed and eight others were wounded during an Israeli drone attack in the al-Kateeba district west of Gaza City in northern Gaza on Tuesday morning, according to a medical source at al-Shifa Hospital speaking to Al Jazeera. Images shared online depicted rising smoke and the sound of successive explosions from the assault.
Reporting from Gaza City, Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud stated that he counted at least 13 drones operating in the area during the incident. “For 35 minutes there were nonstop attacks involving drones, three of them hovering at a dangerously low level,” he noted, adding that security personnel reported a direct exchange of fire with special forces amid intense aerial coverage.
Meanwhile, in central Gaza, a separate Israeli strike in Deir el-Balah resulted in at least one fatality, according to a statement from Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.
The Israeli military stated that it targeted several locations in Gaza to eliminate threats to its forces. Israeli television station Channel 12 reported explosions across the Strip, while the Palestinian news network Quds noted the use of missiles and quadcopter drones in the operations.
Health statistics indicate that Israel has killed at least 1,320 Palestinians and injured more than 4,300 since the ceasefire in Gaza took effect in October 2025.
