Far-right British commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has shared his firsthand experience following his arrest and subsequent deportation from the United States by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In a recent interview with host Piers Morgan, Yiannopoulos reflected on the ordeal, admitting that he now understands what it feels like to be genuinely terrified. Describing the physical reality of being placed in manacles with his hands and feet chained together, he expressed shock at the treatment of detainees.
Yiannopoulos was taken into federal custody last Thursday after arriving at the airport in New Orleans, Louisiana. The 41-year-old described the ICE facility process as humiliating and frightening.
While the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) claimed Yiannopoulos overstayed a visa following a missed immigration hearing after entering the country on May 14, 2019, Yiannopoulos disputed the narrative. White House border tsar Tom Homan maintained that the deportation followed proper judicial channels, but Yiannopoulos accused officials of lying and suggested his shifting political alignment played a role.
Yiannopoulos also alleged that his green card status was mishandled and that official notices were deliberately sent to an old address. He vowed to fight what he called an unlawful and malicious deportation in court.
Reflecting on his past vocal support for Donald Trump and aggressive immigration policies, Yiannopoulos expressed regret and shame over his former stance, noting that the raids sweep up individuals without criminal records rather than targeting dangerous criminals.
The deportation followed a public feud with Trump ally Laura Loomer, who claimed credit for reporting Yiannopoulos to ICE and the FBI. Responding to Loomer's remarks, Yiannopoulos dismissed her influence while commenting on her well-being.
