Saudi shipping company Bahri has confirmed that two Filipino nationals lost their lives during an attack on its vessel, Sidr, located in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the company's statement released on Wednesday, the incident took place while the ship was navigating through the Strait of Hormuz at 11.40pm on August 31.
"Bahri remains in continuous contact with the vessel and is coordinating closely with the relevant authorities and maritime industry stakeholders, while continuing to closely monitor developments," the company stated.
Furthermore, Bahri emphasized that it "remains committed to operating in accordance with the highest standards of safety, security and environmental protection."
Since late February, thousands of seafarers have found themselves affected by the ongoing conflict. Data from the International Maritime Organisation indicates that at least 70 ship attacks have been verified, resulting in 19 seafarer fatalities as of August 28.
