President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi delivered a welcoming message at an event held in Cairo on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and China. The commemoration was jointly organized by the State Ministry of Information and China Media Group.
Minister of State for Information Diaa Rashwan read the message during the opening ceremony, in which al-Sisi warmly welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping to Egypt as a dear guest and close friend. Al-Sisi congratulated both the Egyptian and Chinese peoples on seven decades of diplomatic ties, noting that he and President Xi have collaborated for over 12 years to elevate bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
The partnership has successfully boosted trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, alongside scientific and cultural programs involving Egyptian and Chinese youths. Al-Sisi emphasized that over the past seventy years, Egypt-China relations have blossomed into a model built on mutual respect, solidarity, and shared interests.
Furthermore, he highlighted that both nations actively promote international cooperation, uphold principles of truth, justice, and equality, and strive toward comprehensive development and a just peace. Welcoming President Xi to what he described as his second home Egypt, al-Sisi voiced optimism for an advanced new phase of cooperation across a broader spectrum of fields to secure mutual prosperity and global stability.
