The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing officials at the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), that the FTC plans to file a lawsuit against Amazon. The impending legal action accuses Amazon of manipulating advertising prices on its e-commerce platform.
Following the report by the Wall Street Journal, Amazon shares experienced a 2.8 percent decline on Monday.
According to the report, the commission intends to file the lawsuit in federal court in Seattle. The filing alleges that over a seven-year period, Amazon manipulated the prices that companies paid for advertising on its platform.
Additionally, more than 20 state attorneys general from both parties are anticipated to join the case.
