The UAE's Astronomy Centre has published its projected schedule for major Islamic events in 2027, offering residents an early framework to plan around Ramadan and its following holidays. Based on current astronomical calculations, Ramadan is anticipated to begin on February 8, 2027, though the final determination will rely on the official sighting of the crescent moon.

Because the Islamic calendar operates on lunar cycles, its dates shift approximately 10 to 12 days earlier each Gregorian year. The holy month of Ramadan, a period dedicated to fasting, prayer, community service, and family gatherings, is projected to last for either 29 or 30 days, concluding around March 8 or March 9, 2027. The UAE moon-sighting committee will observe the moon on the 29th day of the preceding month to confirm the official start date.

Following the conclusion of fasting, Eid Al Fitr will bring celebrations and public holidays across the UAE. Projections indicate that if Ramadan spans 30 days, the holiday break will likely commence on March 10. Conversely, a 29-day Ramadan would position the expected Eid Al Fitr 2027 holiday dates from March 9 to March 11.

Under UAE Cabinet law, employees in both the public and private sectors generally receive three paid holidays covering the first three days of Shawwal. If the Shawwal crescent remains unseen on the 29th evening, extending Ramadan to a 30th day, that final day of Ramadan is also declared a public holiday, creating a four-day break for residents. All projected dates remain subject to official confirmation closer to the actual lunar sightings.
