The Family Development Foundation has officially launched a new national charter dedicated to Emirati women. Unveiled during Emirati Women's Day, the initiative honors and extends the enduring legacy of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.

Entitled the Following in the Footsteps of the Mother of the Nation charter, the project was introduced under the direct directives of Sheikha Fatima, who serves as Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation. Grounded in her visionary approach to women's empowerment and human development, the charter outlines eight core national commitments to guide Emirati women.

These vital pillars include embracing national identity and authentic Emirati values, pursuing excellence in education, work, and innovation, and actively driving the UAE's comprehensive development and global competitiveness. Furthermore, the charter highlights the significance of family stability and social cohesion by encouraging women to harmonize their professional ambitions with their family responsibilities, championing the dual role of achieving and nurturing as fundamental to the nation's social fabric.

Additional commitments focus on strengthening intergenerational bonds, urging women to honor the wisdom and contributions of senior citizens. The framework also stresses the essential role women play in raising future generations equipped with a strong sense of identity to continue the UAE's growth. The concluding commitments call for robust support of national initiatives aimed at improving quality of life, advancing sustainable development, and sustaining the values of leadership and national responsibility championed by Sheikha Fatima.

Ultimately, the charter aims to strengthen the impact of Emirati women in fulfilling the UAE's long-term national vision. Celebrated annually on August 28, Emirati Women's Day saw its 2026 iteration extended for an entire month to profoundly celebrate the vital contributions of women across society.
