Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, between Mansour Group and China’s Tianneng Battery Group Co Ltd. The agreement aims to explore cooperation and investment opportunities in battery manufacturing and energy storage solutions within Egypt.

The newly signed MoU focuses on studying the production of lead-acid batteries for automobiles and lithium batteries for new energy vehicles. This initiative supports Egypt's broader strategy to deepen local manufacturing, increase value-added production, and strengthen export capabilities.

Minister Mohamed Farid emphasized that lithium batteries and components for new energy vehicles are key sectors under the State’s localization strategy. He noted that collaborating with Tianneng allows Egypt to leverage advanced technologies while capitalizing on strategic advantages such as its geographic location, robust infrastructure, and the resources provided by the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).

Tianneng Vice President and head of the International Business Eric Xu highlighted the company's nearly 40 years of industry experience, covering lead-acid, lithium, sodium-ion, and solid-state battery technologies. Tianneng is currently evaluating potential sites, identifying localized products, and drafting a feasibility study for the Egyptian market.

The ceremony was also attended by Chairman of the SCZONE Mostafa Sheikhoun. Discussions concluded with an agreement to maintain close coordination between Mansour Group, Tianneng, and government agencies to finalize project studies and accelerate implementation.
