With diplomacy at a standstill and traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remaining below pre-war levels, President Donald Trump has revived the concept of regime change in Iran, a notion he initially championed when the conflict began six months ago.

“When are the Iranian people going to rise up and fight?” President Donald Trump asked on social media.

This renewed push follows a familiar pattern in the ongoing war, which has recently seen renewed hostilities after a month-long period of relative calm. Following three consecutive days of exchanged strikes between the United States and Iran, President Donald Trump stated he was prepared to order an even larger round of destruction if necessary, noting that he was content with the current status of the conflict and the collapsing Iranian economy.

While senior advisers and Republican allies on Capitol Hill have warned that renewed conflict could cause political complications ahead of the upcoming elections, President Donald Trump insisted he was not affected by the vote.

Alongside the military standoff, the administration has shifted its strategy toward choking off Tehran's finances. The Treasury Department has threatened major sanctions aimed at worsening economic conditions and prompting domestic anger among disillusioned Iranians toward their leaders. Inflation has soared, food prices are rising weekly, and the Iranian rial has plummeted in value.

Iranian President Masogly Pezeshkian acknowledged the severe economic problems, stating that the country finds itself in a full-scale economic, military, and security war. However, American intelligence assessments and regional analysts note that despite the dire economic situation and crippling Western sanctions, Iran's leaders maintain a firm grip on power, having historically met domestic protests with fierce crackdowns.
