A UAE relief mission has travelled to Nepal to provide vital aid and support after devastating flash floods and landslides resulted in the deaths of more than 1,000 people, leaving thousands still missing. According to the state news agency Wam on Thursday, the specialist team includes members of the UAE Joint Operations Command, the Dubai Police search and rescue team, and the UAE Aid Agency.

Equipped with disaster relief, medical evacuation, and first aid experts, the team will collaborate directly with Nepalese authorities to bolster search and rescue operations and deliver urgent medical care.

Earlier this week, The National reported that the UAE airlifted 83 tonnes of food supplies and shelter materials to Nepal. A subsequent aircraft transported an additional 45 tonnes of relief goods, featuring basic food items, essential supplies, and power generators.

Last week, under the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed, the UAE pledged a $10 million humanitarian aid package to strengthen critical relief operations. Distributed via the UAE Aid Agency and coordinated closely with the UAE embassy in Kathmandu, the financial support is being channeled alongside local authorities and international groups to guarantee aid reaches everyone in need.

Wam noted that this latest mission underscores the UAE's enduring humanitarian commitment to Nepal, reflecting a broader foreign policy centered on urgent global action.
