Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, on Friday underscored the vital role of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company within an increasingly complex global energy landscape. Chairing a meeting of the executive committee of the company's board of directors at Adnoc's headquarters, Sheikh Khaled directed the organization to strengthen its position as a premier energy provider linking production, trading, and logistics.
The directives came as Sheikh Khaled evaluated Adnoc's measures to secure reliable energy deliveries in light of recent events impacting maritime navigation in the region, according to the state news agency Wam. The UAE has repeatedly affirmed its dedication to upholding freedom of navigation rights in the Strait of Hormuz while simultaneously seeking diplomatic resolutions to the ongoing conflict involving Iran. Previously, Adnoc reported that one of its vessels was targeted while navigating the essential waterway on August 14, though no injuries occurred and the situation was swiftly managed.
During the gathering, Sheikh Khaled also assessed the operational and financial results of Adnoc. He received updates regarding the functioning of Adnoc's international liquefied natural gas marketing and trading platform, which was unveiled in July as a major milestone for the industry. The platform aims to achieve 47 million tonnes per annum of marketable LNG past 2030, enhancing customer supply source diversification and expanding access to Adnoc's growing gas portfolio. Furthermore, Sheikh Khaled highlighted that Adnoc's integration and operational agility continue to enhance its capacity to meet customer demands.
Prior to the board session, Sheikh Khaled toured the company's emergency control centre, meeting with front-line staff and business continuity teams representing the wider Adnoc Group. He praised their steadfast dedication and efforts in maintaining safe and efficient operations across all conditions.
The high-level meeting was attended by Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Adnoc managing director and group chief executive; Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention; Khaldoon Al Mubarak, managing director and group chief executive of Mubadala Investment Company; and Jassem Al Zaabi, chairman of Abu Dhabi's Department of Finance.
