More than 1,500 repurposed laptops and tablets have been successfully distributed to underprivileged pupils throughout the UAE as part of a back-to-school initiative led by The Digital School. The campaign aims to ensure that low-income families, orphans, and other vulnerable groups are fully equipped with the necessary technology for the upcoming academic year. The devices, which included laptops and tablets, were donated by various institutions and organizations across the UAE, subsequently restored to meet technical standards, and handed over to pupils supported by the Tarahum Charity Foundation.

As an initiative of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, The Digital School provides comprehensive digital education for underserved and marginalized learners, combining accredited certification, digital platforms, and localized curriculums. This latest distribution was organized under the 'Giving and Hope' Back-to-School Campaign and the wider Donate Your Device initiative.

Khalid Al Qasim, chairman of Tarahum’s board, emphasized that the partnership reflects a coordinated community effort designed to help beneficiary families start the school year with confidence. Meanwhile, Dr Waleed Al Ali, Secretary General of The Digital School, noted that the collaboration successfully pairs education with sustainability by giving donated devices a new lease of life while reinforcing values of social responsibility.

The project actively combines education and sustainability by extending the lifespan of used devices to reduce electronic waste and create sustainable educational opportunities. The second Donate Your Device campaign is jointly run by The Digital School, the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, and Ecyclex, with backing from the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, setting an ambitious target to collect 100,000 used electronic devices. During the first campaign launched in 2023, 50,000 devices were collected and 120 tonnes of electronic waste were recycled, cutting carbon dioxide emissions and saving valuable environmental resources.
