Trial operations for the first section of Egypt's high-speed electric train project, running from Ain Sokhna to 6th of October City, are scheduled to begin in October, according to Tarek Goweily, head of the National Authority for Tunnels, speaking on the Extra News TV channel.
Goweily stated that the first line of the project, which stretches from Ain Sokhna to Marsa Matrouh, has achieved completion rates between 85 percent and 88 percent. The initial trial operations will be followed by gradual testing across the remaining sections of the line.
The operational timeline relies on finishing tests, securing international safety certification, and completing the training of operating crews, including drivers and technicians, Goweily noted. The German company tasked with operating the train initiated crew training in February and anticipates finishing this phase by February or March.
Beyond advancing transportation, the high-speed electric train will impact urban and industrial communities along its path by fostering new areas and enhancing investment and population growth, Goweily added, highlighting the project as a vital pillar of modern transportation in Egypt.
