During high-level talks in Beijing, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met with Chinese Premier Li Qiang to explore deeper economic partnerships and regional diplomacy. Monday's discussions centered on critical sectors such as trade, energy, and artificial intelligence, while Beijing expressed strong support for Doha’s ongoing mediation efforts in the Middle East.
According to a statement from Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized Doha's commitment to expanding bilateral relations to new heights and advancing cooperation that aligns with the mutual interests of both nations. China’s State Council released a readout quoting Sheikh Mohammed as stating that Doha is ready to enhance exchanges in trade, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure, and emerging technologies to successfully welcome the next golden decade of bilateral relations.
Premier Li advocated for a closer alignment of development strategies through the Belt and Road framework, highlighting traditional energy, new-energy sources, artificial intelligence, and finance as key areas for expanded collaboration. “China welcomes Qatari investment in China and supports more Chinese enterprises to invest in Qatar to improve the quality and efficiency of two-way investment,” Li stated, while also urging Qatar to maintain a secure environment for Chinese businesses, citizens, institutions, and projects.
On the diplomatic front, Li praised Doha’s active mediation role in the Middle East and confirmed China's willingness to collaborate with Qatar and the broader international community to secure lasting peace and stability in the region. In a separate engagement on Monday, Qatar’s Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah held discussions with executives from several Chinese firms specializing in agriculture, public services, and construction technology to discuss the integration of smart systems and advanced technologies for municipal infrastructure upgrades.
