Two decades after Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, assumed chairmanship of Dubai's Executive Council, the emirate has achieved monumental growth across its economy, infrastructure, and public services.

According to the state news agency Wam, Dubai's GDP has doubled to Dh937 billion since Sheikh Hamdan took charge in September 2006. Meanwhile, non-oil foreign trade has surpassed Dh3 trillion, further solidifying the emirate's position as a premier global hub for trade and investment. Real estate transactions hit Dh917 billion in 2025 alone, underscoring enduring confidence in the city's future, while Dubai's population surpassed 4.5 million by the end of 2025.

Dubai's international standing has risen correspondingly. Dubai International Airport retains its title as the world's busiest for international passenger traffic, and the city leads the globe in attracting greenfield foreign direct investment projects. Regionally, it ranks first on the Global Financial Centres Index and comfortably sits within the world's top 10. Additionally, the Global Power City Index has named Dubai the world's cleanest city for the sixth consecutive year.

Social and public welfare indicators have seen similar enhancements. Healthy life expectancy has climbed to 80.75 years, 99.9 per cent of residents express a sense of personal safety, and customer happiness regarding government services stands at 95 per cent. Furthermore, Dubai ranks in the top five globally across multiple international education assessments, while integrated housing solutions for citizens have reached Dh50 billion over the past twenty years. This extensive development has been largely supported by Dh1.2 trillion in government expenditure directed toward key sectors, infrastructure, services, and social programmes.

In recognition of these milestones, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, shared a heartfelt tribute on social media to his son and his accomplishments on Monday. Expressing deep admiration, Sheikh Mohammed wrote, "I write to you this message filled with pride and honour for you," noting that Sheikh Hamdan has carved a unique path and achieved unprecedented success.
