The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has announced that total international reserves climbed to US$ 57.214 billion by the end of August 2026, up from $ 56.293 billion at the close of July.

Foreign currency reserves grew by $921 million during August 2026, marking a monthly growth rate of 1.63 percent. Banking expert Tarek Metwally noted that this increase highlights ongoing enhancements in foreign currency liquidity indicators and underscores the Egyptian economy's capacity to fulfill its foreign currency requirements.

According to Metwally, the growth serves as a positive sign of exchange market stability and better foreign currency inflows, driven by remittances from Egyptians working abroad, rising tourism revenues, foreign direct investment, and government initiatives to boost exports and dollar reserves.

He further explained that this reserve milestone strengthens the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) in handling potential pressures or emergency foreign currency demands, while reinforcing confidence in the Egyptian economy to meet its external financial obligations punctually.
