Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held discussions on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, with Toshimitsu Imai, Chief Executive Officer of Japanese group Toyota Tsusho, focusing on strategies to boost economic and investment collaboration between Egypt and the organization.

During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty conveyed his gratitude for the ongoing partnership between Egypt and Toyota Tsusho, commending the company's vital involvement across multiple economic sectors. He highlighted his goal to build upon the results of his previous discussions with the company during his trip to Japan last June, seeking to increase the group's participation in renewable energy, automotive manufacturing, and assembly initiatives.

Furthermore, the minister emphasized Egypt's strong interest in setting up a Japanese industrial zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, alongside expanding the footprint of Japanese enterprises in the Egyptian market to leverage the zone's unique competitive benefits. He shared his vision of partnering with the company to draw in further Japanese investments and facilitate the transfer of advanced technology and industrial expertise, especially given Toyota Tsusho's leadership role on the Japanese side of the Egyptian-Japanese Business Council.
