Qatar has strongly condemned the Houthi group’s targeting of civilian and economic facilities in southern Saudi Arabia, following a wave of attacks that left 73 people injured, including women and children. The strikes caused fires at several energy facilities in southern Saudi Arabia and temporarily disrupted operations.
In a statement posted on X on Tuesday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) highlighted that sites in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran had been targeted. The ministry also condemned the group’s continued attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea.
Describing the assaults as “reprehensible aggressive conduct,” Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the actions demonstrate an unacceptable disregard for civilian lives and regional security. The statement emphasized that targeting Saudi territory constitutes a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and international law, warning of a dangerous escalation threatening regional stability.
Qatar reiterated its categorical rejection of attacks on civilian facilities and vital infrastructure, calling for an immediate end to the violence. Additionally, the statement condemned threats to international maritime navigation, stressing that the freedom and security of navigation through international waterways are rights guaranteed under international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Qatar concluded by expressing wishes for a speedy recovery for those injured and praying for the safety of Saudi Arabia and its people.
