Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, wrapped up a high-profile two-day official visit to Beijing on Tuesday after holding strategic discussions with senior Chinese officials and corporate executives.
Reflecting on the trip, Sheikh Mohammed shared in a post that he concluded his visit with shared aspirations to strengthen strategic relations across all fields.
On Tuesday, Sheikh Mohammed held discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The two officials focused on bolstering bilateral cooperation, serving mutual interests, and reviewing pressing regional and international developments aimed at promoting global peace and security.
The diplomatic talks also highlighted ongoing efforts to de-escalate regional tensions and maintain stability, with both nations emphasizing the critical need to secure international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Sheikh Mohammed reiterated Qatar's backing for diplomatic measures to ensure maritime freedom and support comprehensive agreements for sustainable regional peace.
Additionally, Sheikh Mohammed engaged with founders, chairpersons, and executives from various Chinese companies to explore mutual cooperation opportunities.
In a separate engagement on Tuesday, Qatar’s Minister of Municipality, Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, met with China’s Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Ni Hong, in Beijing. Their talks centered on advancing expertise in urban planning, infrastructure development, and sustainable smart building technologies.
The visit kicked off on Monday when Sheikh Mohammed met Chinese Premier Li Qiang. Discussions centered on expanding collaboration in trade, energy, and artificial intelligence, alongside reviewing regional developments and Qatar's mediation role in the Middle East. Premier Li advocated for closer alignment of development strategies, welcoming mutual investments between the two nations.
