Meta, the owner of Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Threads, has officially announced a new artificial intelligence tool named Muse, which the company describes as a "personal AI agent built for everyone."
Speaking on the new release, the company's chief global affairs officer, Joel Kaplan, emphasized that Muse is safe, secure, and private. He stated that the tool ensures users remain in full control of "what it can access"—addressing specific criticisms regarding privacy that Meta's previous offerings have faced in recent years.
"Introducing Muse, the personal agent that understands your goals and works 24/7 to get things done for you," said Meta founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg in a social media statement. "You choose which apps and services Muse has access to and you can disconnect them at any time."
According to the official company website, Muse is designed to integrate with existing applications to help accelerate various daily responsibilities. Marketing materials promote the technology as "the world's first personal AI agent built for everyone."
"It's always working with your goals and suggesting ideas," Meta's promotional material explains. "Give Muse a goal or a task and it builds an action plan, tracks your progress and proactively takes tasks off your plate along the way."
Muse represents just one of several AI initiatives introduced by Meta over the past few months. Last year, Mr. Zuckerberg brought on Alexandr Wang of Scale AI to assist in developing products aimed at establishing Meta as an industry leader in the sector. Mr. Wang praised the new software, calling Muse a "very magical product."
The announcement of Meta's Muse arrives just one day prior to an anticipated product showcase from Apple, where the company is widely expected to reveal several new devices, including a foldable phone.
