During an official visit to Egypt in Alamain, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met to review the ongoing development of the planned electricity interconnection project between Egypt and Greece, highlighting its significance for regional energy security.
Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed al-Shennawy noted that the leaders explored broader bilateral cooperation across tourism, transport, labor, migration, trade, investment, telecommunications, information technology, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurship.
President Sisi emphasized Egypt's dedication to deepening historical bilateral relations to serve mutual interests, while Prime Minister Mitsotakis expressed gratitude for Egypt's hospitality and its role in hosting the trilateral cooperation mechanism summit involving Egypt, Greece, and Cyprus.
The discussions also addressed critical regional and international matters, emphasizing de-escalation and stability. President Sisi highlighted Egypt's peace initiatives, and Prime Minister Mitsotakis commended joint efforts against irregular migration and terrorism. The talks further touched upon situations in Libya, Syria, Lebanon, freedom of navigation, and the Palestinian Cause, where both leaders stressed maintaining the Gaza ceasefire and working toward a lasting peace through an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
