The Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) and the General Libyan Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (GLUCC) have signed a cooperation protocol to organize an annual Egyptian-Libyan industrial integration exhibition in the Libyan city of Benghazi. The inaugural edition of the event is tentatively scheduled for April 2027.

The agreement aims to strengthen industrial, trade, and investment cooperation, support partnerships between the business communities of both nations, and open new markets for Egyptian and Libyan products. The protocol seeks to transition Egyptian-Libyan economic relations beyond traditional trade into a more integrated model based on industrial and investment partnerships, the exchange of expertise and technology, stronger joint value and production chains, and the optimization of production and logistics capabilities. Furthermore, the initiative capitalizes on Libya’s strategic position as a vital gateway to numerous African markets.

Hesham el Gazzar, head of the Exhibitions and Small Projects Committee at the Federation of Egyptian Industries, stated that the protocol will support industrial integration between Egypt and Libya while encouraging joint investments and technology transfer. “The exhibition will connect Egyptian companies and factories with their Libyan counterparts and create direct channels for cooperation between the two business communities,” Gazzar said. He highlighted that targeted sectors will include building materials, food, chemical and engineering industries, plastics, wood and furniture, ready-made garments and textiles, leather and footwear, and other promising industries.

Meanwhile, Saleh al Obeidi, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Benghazi Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, noted that the shared vision for bilateral cooperation combines Egypt’s industrial capabilities with Libya’s strategic location. Obeidi emphasized that linking Egyptian industry with Libya’s logistics infrastructure will enable companies to reach a large consumer base across neighboring countries and wider African markets.
