Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly recently reaffirmed the Egyptian government’s strong commitment to supporting and strengthening cooperation with the French hospitality group Accor, expressing high hopes for the introduction of more company hotel brands to the Egyptian market.
During a high-level meeting with Accor Chairman and CEO Sébastien Bazin—which was also attended by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy—Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly discussed the group's ambitious plans to expand its footprint in Egypt, significantly increase investment in the tourism and hospitality sector, and explore a wide array of new investment opportunities presented by the government.
The prime minister emphasized that Egypt is actively offering expanded investment opportunities in tourism, focusing particularly on regions equipped with exceptional natural and tourism potential. He further advocated for ongoing coordination with Accor to craft a comprehensive joint strategy for future expansion and investment initiatives.
In response, Sébastien Bazin noted that Accor regards Egypt as a vital strategic partner, highlighting the vast potential for future growth as the nation's tourism products and services continue to evolve. The executive revealed that the French hospitality group intends to introduce approximately 25,000 new hotel rooms across Egypt over the next three years, while simultaneously diversifying its brand portfolio to match the unique attributes of various destinations.
Sébastien Bazin also emphasized the critical importance of authenticity and quality, insisting that guest experiences should genuinely reflect Egypt’s rich culture and local identity. Furthermore, he underscored the necessity of continuously upgrading existing Accor properties and offered to leverage the company’s extensive international expertise to advance hotel and tourism product development.
Addressing workforce development, Sébastien Bazin proposed a collaborative effort with the Egyptian government to establish a dedicated hospitality academy in Egypt. This institution would focus on training and qualifying tourism and hotel professionals to meet rigorous international standards while remaining deeply rooted in Egyptian culture.
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy noted that Accor’s expansive vision directly supports Egypt’s core tourism growth objectives, particularly the critical need to elevate high-quality hotel capacity. He also pointed out significant opportunities to drive increased visitor arrivals from France, urging enhanced joint marketing campaigns between Egypt and Accor that leverage the corporation's global network to attract a broader audience of tourists.
Ultimately, both delegations reached a consensus to maintain close coordination regarding upcoming investment prospects, the enhancement of existing projects, the introduction of new hotel brands, and collaborative workforce training initiatives designed to reinforce Egypt's broader mission to expand hotel capacity and diversify its tourism offerings.
