Israeli forces have detained more than 100 Palestinians, including children, across the Israeli-occupied West Bank over the past week as raids and settler attacks continue, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
The Palestinian rights group reported on Thursday that the military has intensified its detention operations, citing abuses such as field interrogations, physical assaults, threats against families, and extensive property damage during home raids. Among those detained are Ahmad al-Sayfi, a former prisoner from Birzeit, and journalists Muath Amarneh and Sabri Jibril.
The PPS also highlighted that Israeli settlers have carried out assaults on Palestinians and their property with the backing of Israeli forces. Since October 2023, the group states that over 25,000 Palestinians have been detained in the West Bank.
In a dawn raid in Burqa, northwest of Nablus, 15 Palestinians were arrested during a six-hour operation, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa. Additional raids and demolitions were reported in Azzun, Beitunia near Ramallah, and Battir west of Bethlehem, while the Israeli military stated it detained 20 Palestinians in the Arroub refugee camp.
Meanwhile, settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem, prompting warnings from the Jerusalem Governorate, the Palestinian presidency, and the Foreign Ministry regarding potential exploitation of upcoming holidays.
