Faisal Al Bannai, Adviser to the UAE President for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs, emphasized that the Emirates and Germany are poised to collaborate in order to "shape the future economy" following the announcement of a monumental $40 billion action plan designed to strengthen bilateral ties.

According to Mr Al Bannai, advanced partnerships focusing on technology and innovation will leverage the unique strengths of both nations to "unlock broader opportunities for co-operation." These ambitious initiatives were unveiled as part of President Sheikh Mohamed's historic state visit to Germany, which commenced on Wednesday to deepen long-standing alliances across vital sectors.

The landmark agreement, announced on Thursday, details a €40 billion ($46.47 billion) long-term investment by the UAE into Germany. This financial commitment is targeted at supporting industry, advanced technology, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and energy.

In a statement to The National, Mr Al Bannai highlighted that the partnership will combine "world-class expertise" and "advanced capabilities" from both countries. "The UAE and Germany bring together highly complementary technological capabilities, providing a strong foundation for an advanced partnership in technology and innovation," he stated.

He further elaborated on the distinct contributions of each nation, noting that Germany offers unparalleled expertise in engineering, industry, and advanced research. Meanwhile, the UAE contributes leading capabilities in artificial intelligence and autonomous systems, alongside a proven capacity to rapidly transition technologies from research and development into practical, cost-effective applications.

"This alignment creates significant potential across sectors that will shape the future economy, including clean energy, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, logistics, and high-value industrial technologies," Mr Al Bannai added. He noted that the partnership underscores a mutual drive to foster resilient, competitive, and innovation-driven economies through diversification.

Concluding his remarks, Mr Al Bannai stressed that the state visit by President Sheikh Mohamed arrived at a critical juncture for advancing bilateral relations. He expressed confidence that the technological partnership will extend far beyond knowledge exchange, fostering joint capability development to address global shifts and deliver lasting economic impact.
