UAE Authorities Foil Major Cross-Border Human Smuggling Rings and Arrest Suspects

UAE authorities have successfully thwarted two separate cross-border operations aimed at smuggling individuals in and out of the country, according to reports from state news agency Wam. All suspects involved have been apprehended and referred to prosecutors for further legal action.

In the initial operation, law enforcement acted on intelligence to uncover a plot to illegally bring 18 Asian citizens into the UAE in staggered groups, with alleged assistance from a Gulf national. Intensive surveillance culminated in his arrest after crossing the border alongside two alleged infiltrators and five family members. Investigators reported that he utilized his family's presence to give the journey an appearance of legitimacy and mask the illicit activity.

A separate incident involved Daniel Kinahan appearing in an Irish court following a UAE extradition. Meanwhile, in the second case handled by local officials, authorities blocked an attempt to smuggle a foreigner out of the nation to help him evade active arrest warrants and legal restrictions.

Investigations into the outbound attempt directed suspicion toward a woman from a Gulf country, who allegedly orchestrated the plan alongside her daughter. Leveraging the freedom of movement afforded to GCC nationals, she reportedly traveled to the UAE with family members to camouflage the operation.

Officials further alleged that she had repeatedly smuggled infiltrators out of the country, noting that her son-in-law had previously faced similar accusations. Following a series of arrests, the Public Prosecution has intensified its ongoing investigations into both cases.
