Malta's Foreign Minister Chris Fearne has issued a call for a more robust and coordinated European strategy to address mounting crises in the Mediterranean region and surrounding areas. Rejecting the notion of the Mediterranean as a dividing line between a wealthy Europe and a less affluent Africa, Fearne emphasized that the body of water should serve as a connecting bridge between the two continents.
During the discussion, Fearne outlined Malta's backing for a two-state solution addressing Israel and Palestine, sustained European assistance for Ukraine, and initiatives aimed at guiding Libya's competing factions toward elections and national reunification. Nonetheless, he cautioned that the global landscape has grown increasingly perilous, noting that international rule of law is not consistently upheld.
