Max Tegmark, a professor of physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and founder of the Future of Life Institute, argues that the greatest danger facing mankind is a machine capable of outsmarting the entire human species.
Speaking with host Steve Clemons, Tegmark stated that governments and tech companies are engaged in a race to replace human labor rather than focusing on solving human problems. According to him, this trajectory is designed to funnel more money and power to a very small number of individuals.
However, a rising wave of pushback against the Silicon Valley 'don't regulate us' lobby has emerged following a slew of suicides and murders committed by individuals interacting with AI chatbots.
