Uzbekistan has renewed its urgent call for de-escalation in the Middle East, expressing strong support for regional diplomatic efforts—including those spearheaded by Qatar—as escalating tensions continue to jeopardize regional stability and security.

In an official statement released on Saturday, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs voiced deep concern regarding the worsening crisis in the Middle East, specifically highlighting recent missile and drone attacks directed at Saudi Arabia. The ministry forcefully denounced the use of violence against civilians, civilian infrastructure, and energy facilities, cautioning that such aggressive actions pose a severe threat to regional state security and international navigation.

Furthermore, Tashkent emphasized the necessity of strict adherence to international law alongside unwavering respect for the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of all nations. The ministry advocated for the resolution of all conflicts exclusively through political and diplomatic channels.

Highlighting its commitment to peace, Uzbekistan expressed full backing for initiatives undertaken by the United Nations and various regional nations aimed at curbing the escalation, preventing the wider dissemination of the conflict, and securing enduring peace throughout the Middle East.

This diplomatic stance builds upon months of intensive, high-level discussions between Qatar and Uzbekistan regarding the volatile regional landscape. Notably, Qatar has played an active role in regional diplomacy, underscored by a July phone call between Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, wherein the two leaders deliberated on Middle East developments and collaborative pathways to peace and stability.

Their diplomatic engagement follows earlier communications in March, during the peak of regional hostilities, where both leaders mutually stressed the vital importance of restraint, de-escalation, and diplomatic resolutions. At that time, Uzbekistan maintained that all actions undermining state sovereignty, peace, and stability must cease immediately.

Reinforcing these diplomatic ties, the Amir received a verbal message concerning bilateral relations and broader regional and international developments on September 3. The message was officially delivered in Doha by Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of Uzbekistan’s Presidential Administration.
