Major traffic diversions are now in place at one of Dubai's busiest traffic hotspots as part of an ongoing infrastructure initiative, the city's transport authority has announced.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) shared on X that these diversions form an essential part of the Al Safa Street development project. Consequently, traffic adjustments have been implemented on both sides of Al Satwa Street and Al Multaqa Street to facilitate smoother vehicle movement around the City Walk area.

"As part of the Al Safa Street development project, the RTA implemented a traffic diversion on the street to ensure smooth traffic flow and ease of movement for you during the project completion period," the RTA stated on X.

Earlier this year, Dubai initiated a Dh2 billion project aimed at improving connectivity across the emirate’s vital roads and reducing congestion. Additionally, the RTA awarded a contract for the Latifa bint Hamdan corridor development project, which extends 12km to connect Sheikh Zayed Road with Al Khail Road, Al Meydan Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Emirates Road.

Scheduled for completion by the end of 2028, the broader infrastructure initiative will feature seven bridges spanning 2.3km and eight tunnels covering 900 metres, ultimately boosting traffic flow to a capacity exceeding 16,000 vehicles an hour in both directions.
