Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized that the pharmaceutical sector remains a critical area receiving substantial state attention due to its direct impact on fulfilling citizens' essential needs. During a meeting on Sunday, September 13, 2026, with Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) Chairman Ali al-Ghamrawy, the Prime Minister highlighted the necessity of enhancing domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities, advancing the localization of medicine and medical supplies production, and expanding local output to secure market demands.
The discussions focused on reviewing the authority's ongoing development initiatives and achievements, notably the Egyptian Drug Authority securing World Health Organization (WHO) Maturity Level 3 for medicines. This follows the same milestone attained for vaccines in March 2022, cementing Egypt's status as the first country in Africa to reach this achievement in both fields.
Ali al-Ghamrawy noted that this recognition underscores the efficiency and stability of Egypt's regulatory framework and paves the way for future advancements toward WHO Maturity Level 4. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly congratulated the Egyptian Drug Authority team on their international success, commending their dedication to elevating national healthcare standards and reinforcing Egypt's regional and global pharmaceutical leadership.
