Miral, the company behind Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, has committed a Dh12 billion ($3.26 billion) investment over the next five years to significantly expand its hospitality and theme park portfolio. Speaking at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai on Monday, Miral's group chief executive Mohamed Al Zaabi announced that the funds will support the expansion of a Warner Bros-themed hotel featuring 250 rooms, along with a brand-new lifestyle hotel located at Yas Bay.
“We want to increase the room number today by almost 35 per cent in the coming five years,” Mr Al Zaabi stated. He noted that two of the upcoming hotels will feature themed IPs to capitalize on rising consumer demand, though specific brand details were kept under wraps. The sweeping investment also covers the Harry Potter-themed expansion of the Warner Bros theme park, which is scheduled to open in 2029, alongside new rides and experiences across Ferrari World and other attractions.
According to Mr Al Zaabi, the capital will be primarily financed through Miral's own earnings, with supplemental funding as needed. Furthermore, he provided an update on the highly anticipated Disneyland Abu Dhabi project on Yas Island, confirming that development is moving forward smoothly through close, monthly collaborations with Disney, though an official opening date has not yet been announced.
