In al-Mughayyir, a village north-east of Ramallah, students face armed soldiers just to reach their classrooms. On 21 April, Israeli settler fire resulted in the death of a 14-year-old student named Aws directly on his school grounds, forcing his teacher to carry him away.
Tragically, the violence continued that same day when the teacher’s brother was also killed while attempting to help. Village residents have mourned multiple children this year amid an ongoing crisis. Al Jazeera journalist Leila Warah examines how this harsh environment defines the daily reality of Palestinian childhood across the occupied West Bank.
