Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Cairo to reject any plans for Palestinian displacement, following statements by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz regarding military operations in Gaza.

During Wednesday's meeting, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi emphasized Egypt's firm stance against the displacement of Palestinians and any efforts to eliminate the Palestinian cause, as reported by the Wafa news agency. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas commended Egypt for its defense of Palestinian rights and reaffirmed that Gaza remains an integral part of the Palestinian state.

The discussions followed remarks by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, who stated that the army would finish operations in Gaza to implement a migration plan. Previously, Katz noted that Israel was prepared to facilitate the removal of Palestinians from Gaza by land and sea while consulting with the United States regarding relocation options.

US Ambassador Mike Huckabee refuted claims of any forced displacement plans against the will of the local population. Meanwhile, the prolonged conflict has resulted in widespread internal displacement and severe destruction across the Gaza Strip, with casualty figures surpassing 73,700 Palestinians.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the military will maintain its presence across significant portions of the Palestinian enclave, despite ongoing diplomatic frameworks. Additionally, concerns have been raised by human rights organizations, including B’Tselem, regarding continued activities in the West Bank.
