The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) has announced that the number of Chinese investing companies operating in Egypt has risen significantly to 3,366 firms. These businesses span a wide range of industries, including textiles, ready-made garments, solar panels, chemical industries, automotive manufacturing, and logistics services.
During her address at the Investment Promotion Forum at the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen, held from Sept. 8 to 11, GAFI Deputy CEO Eman Mansour emphasized the strengthening economic ties between Egypt and China. She highlighted the “TEDA Egypt” project within the Suez Canal Economic Zone as a premier example of successful industrial cooperation, local manufacturing integration, and export-driven production.
Mansour also underscored that sustainability remains a vital pillar of Egypt’s economic growth strategy, pointing to government targets to increase green public investments to 60% of total public investments by the fiscal year 2026/2027. Furthermore, she detailed lucrative investment prospects in sectors such as green hydrogen, renewable energy, electric vehicles, and advanced industries.
On the sidelines of the global summit, GAFI representatives also met with international organizations and investment promotion agencies from Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and China to discuss collaborative efforts. According to Mansour, these talks focused on advancing sustainable investment, boosting private sector competitiveness by integrating it into global value chains, and fostering institutional cooperation and knowledge sharing.
